Some so-called smart fellas invented
ITIL. If you are in the business plus IT environment you should know what I'm talking about. No doubt the whole process in the text of
ITIL looks so perfect. But will it be supported by reality? Will everything be so clear cut and everyone will be on the same track to drive the results?
When we were first hit by the transformation towards
ITIL, I wasn't really clear about this.
1)Basically I wasn't really paying much attention and time to read the blog.
2)I thought it would open up more head count for others to join our team.
I guess I was being naive in putting any effort to understand the whole situation that I was about to put myself into. As time past,
ITIL and gAMStransformation has been a hot topic. I did went through the blog and read up on some of the new roles that they are offered. I have a few roles in mind, but I kept thinking I am still new to the team. Barely 6 months,
**Do I stand a chance to fight with my seniors?** Eventually this was pushed out of my mind. Until the day when my dear manager was supposed to have a discussion with us if there's any role that we're interested. Actually I'm all prepared to discuss this with him. But I wasn't given the chance. He basically just drop by each of everyone's cube and have a short discussion. When he came to my desk, he said:
Boss: ahh you are new and were hired for this position, so I'll put you in primary incident.
Me : fair enough
**the same thinking came back to me**That was the only conversation or so-called one to one I had with him.
After that day, I heard of alot of rumours. About lots of things and people. At the point of time, I was still so naive that our workload will be lessen. My mood is still not affected by the transformation, I just couldn't bother to even think of the pros and cons. Until recently when this has became
super duper hot topic and some people got
some so called first hand information from their managers. Our team was still blur about what is yet to happen. Whenever we bring this topic up, my manager will go, everything is still not so clear at the moment, and I doesn't want to give you guys the wrong information. Be patience la.. Basically I couldn't remember how he put that in words, but the meaning was more or less the same.
Until last thursday (10th Apr), when I was on leave to attend 3 pak's funeral. My manager called me and informed me of the changes that is happening. I raised a few questions but none can be answered by my manager. Like what we say ~l.p.p.l
~ la...
Today, one week later, we have our first training on our future roles. There is still so many gray areas. Attending the training makes me more confuse than ever. During the training, the instructors was being shot, by those unhappy team mates that are either not happy/satisfy or agree with this change. I can see that all their anger are vent on these 2 poor guys. Asking questions that had been answered numerious time that there's no clear cut answer/solution to it. And for some questions neing asked, they actually have answers in mind or know what to do. Hence, training was dreaded longer than expected.
After today's training, I feel that the whole transformation is **rubbish** (this is my personal oppinion). Although I still do hope that this would bring benefits to all :
~ to the employee
~to the company
~ to those staying in the same role
~ to those that are moving to another role
This is purely my input on what was communicated to me and to the extend of what I understand. Alot of new roles are basically redundant. Worst is that some are being changed to new role and no replacement. So what will happen to those staying in the same role? There will be the same amount of workload but now shared by fewer people?
I'm just so sorry to say that I can't imagine or even see all that benefits that was communicated to us before the latest news was out. Alot of us are demoted, depress - well at least I'm feeling that when I got the news. This doesn't means we doesn't agree with the changes, but what was promised is still so blur and that we're not able to even see it yet. The official date for the transformation is 20th Apr 2009, which is next monday. But everyone is still in the dark.
As of now, I'm only able to blog until here as official transformation hasn't happen. We're all still hoping that what we understand will not be come reality.
** I guess it has been so long since I posted a loong entry.. Bcoz, this is the only place I can vent out everything without anyone interrupting.. ngek ngek ngek... Enjoyreading~**
